Oceà: A Cruelty Free Skin Care Brand

October 22, 2018

At Oceà Natural Skin Care, we take great pride in being a 100% animal cruelty free skin care brand. We believe that being cruelty free is a bare necessity for any company that truly cares about all living beings.

You may not have spent time thinking about how your beauty products are tested, but we invite you to consider about what being cruelty free means.

Many big-brand beauty products are tested on small animals like mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. These animals are often subjected to physical restraint, forced feeding and inhalation, food and water deprivation and confined living spaces. It is not uncommon for animals to be subjected to great pain and even death. We find this behavior completely unacceptable and believe it should be outlawed.

Why Aren't these Practices Prohibited?

Some parts of the world, like the U.K. and India, have enacted laws prohibiting the sale of cosmetics that are tested on animals. In fact, the European Union banned these sales in 2013. Unfortunately, not every country has the same restrictions.

The U.S. for example does not have any laws prohibiting animal testing. As a consumer, it’s your personal responsibility to research the companies you buy products from to make sure they truly are cruelty free. According to PETA, the following brands continue to test on animals to this day:

La Mer, MAC, Nars, L’Oreal, Estée Lauder and unfortunately many more.

For more information on which large skin care brands continue to test on animals, please consult this article: https://www.peta.org/living/personal-care-fashion/beauty-brands-that-you-thought-were-cruelty-free-but-arent/

Oceà has never tested any of their products on animals- and never will.

Whether you shop with us or another cruelty free brand, we encourage you find out if your skin care products are tested on animals before purchasing. You’ll feel great about making an informed decision!
